Metrolink is a light railway system which serves the centre of Manchester and connects it to outlying suburbs and towns. With just under 40 stations, the system provides a useful way of reaching most parts of Greater Manchester. Trains can be very crowded in peak commuting hours. Ticket machines mostly accept coins with banknotes rarely taken and Debit/credit cards can't be used in any of the automated machines. Metromax tickets provide unlimited daily use of the system.
Stagecoach provide a local bus service to many parts of the Greater Manchester area. Buses integrate into the Metrolink and national rail systems.
